Public Domain Literature Library is a small, independent catalogue maintained by a single literary critic. Correspondence is handled personally by the catalogue project, The catalogue groups works according to its available bibliographic records and subject scope.
If you have noticed something that could be improved, please write to [email protected]. The following kinds of reports are especially useful:
- Metadata corrections – incorrect title, author, or contributor names; wrong publication date; missing or misleading subtitle. For example, if a poem like "The Lay of the Nibelung Men" is listed under the wrong author or year, a note helps keep the catalogue reliable.
- Category placement – a work that seems misfiled, for example a poem appearing under History rather than Poems, Plays & Literary Form. Our categories such as "Adventure Picaresque Fiction" or "Fantasy Juvenile Worlds" are meant to guide readers; misplacement can confuse.
- Source link or catalogue issues — If a Project Gutenberg source link is unavailable, or if a catalogue page contains a broken link or display problem, please send us the ebook title, the catalogue page URL, and a short description of the issue.
- Accessibility problems – poor contrast, missing structural markup, unreadable scans, or anything that makes the text difficult to navigate with assistive technology. We aim for inclusive access to works like "Harlem shadows" or "The Legend of the Lincoln Imp".
- Privacy or data questions – concerns about how your visit is handled, cookie or tracking practices, or any personal information you may have shared. We take your privacy seriously.
- Copyright or rights concerns – if you believe a title may not be in the public domain in your jurisdiction, or if you hold rights you wish to discuss. Public domain status varies by country; we rely on readers to help us stay accurate.
- General editorial observations – suggestions for new editions, thematic connections, or corrections to the introductory notes. If you spot a flaw in the reading notes for "Picture-Show" or "The Court of Chancery: a satirical poem", we welcome your insight.
What to include in your message
To help identify the issue quickly, please include as many of the following as are relevant:
- The exact URL (web address) of the page where the problem appears.
- The full title of the ebook or work in question, such as "A Fable for Critics — A Closer Reading" or "The Old-Time Spelling School; In Three Parts — Text and Context".
- If relevant, the Project Gutenberg source link associated with the ebook.
- The device, operating system, and browser you were using.
- A clear description of the observed problem – what you expected and what actually happened.
